Then, using Photoshop or Paint or whatever artsy program you like, dress up my cover for Halloween. Let's pretend, instead, that this is a horror book. Instead of "aw," we want, "ew!" The funnier, grosser, and/or most Halloweenlike, the better. (But nothing, you know, truly obscene or something that would traumatize a person under 12).
I'm not great with Photoshop, but I had all kinds of fun coming up with this example:

Let's read the description of Hallowed, shall we?:

Awesome, isn't it? Makes you just want to jump right in and read. But now (you guessed it) you get to rewrite the Hallowed description. What if Hallowed were a horror novel? You can either write it like a really messed up, scary sequel to Unearthly, such as:

But every year on Halloween night she comes to life and claws her way out of the grave, determined to find Christian, the boy who jilted her, and literally eat his heart out . . .

It was the darkest night of this year too, no moon, no stars, just blackness. Together with her mate Christian Prescott, scarred and red-faced king of demons, she´d do it tonight. Standing on top of a mountain near Jackson lake she´d raise her hand and with her high pitched scream a gap in space and time would appear like tongues of flames out of nowhere. Through the tunnel-like flame hole she would be able to see right into Cynthia Hands home, watching Cynthia writing at her desk while she was being completely oblivious to what was coming for her. Christian Prescott writhed in agony as he read Clara´s thoughts: Tonight Clara would torture Cynthia painfully to death if Tucker could not be her boyfriend anymore in the next book. He was determined to avert this, he was supposed to be her soulmate for eternity…

Clara has been waiting her whole life for this day - Halloween - when the Black Wings would rise from the Underworld to take what was rightfully theirs . . . Earth. She awaits the time when she can summon them out of hiding and reek havoc on the world that had long ago turned its back on her. And when Clara meets Christian, an aloof sexy miscrient hiding deep in the woods of her town, she finds it ironically satisfying that he shares her desire to bring revenge to all those around them.
Until Tucker, a gorgeous hard-faced White Wing, suddenly appears. Clara sees him everywhere she goes - in the streets, at school, in her mirror - and feels a drastic pull towards him so deep it leaves a dark hollowness in her stomach. Tucker is everything Clara must hate, and Christian is everything she loves, but Clara finds those two worlds colliding the closer it gets to Halloween.

Clara Gardner wasn't dead.
But every zombie hunter wished she was. Dubbed the legendary Severed Hand because of her missing right arm, Clara was one of the most notorious undead beings to haunt the Earth. She ate hearts and stole hands, as if to compensate for the she'd lost; according to rumors, she didn't even chew before she swallowed. There wasn't a single hunter who had managed to stop her wrath.
Until Tucker. Gorgeous, golden, and absolutely determined, Tucker Avery was one of the best zombie hunters out there... except he was dead too. As a zombie-hunting zombie, he was trusted by neither the dead nor the alive. Not that it mattered much to him. After watching his family die at the hands of a zombie and then being infected by the same guy, Tucker's only goal was to rid the world of all undead beings -- and then himself.
So it was natural that he'd take it upon himself to destroy the one-handed girl who haunted the boonies. Only problem? There were some things about the mysterious Severed Hand that not even the gory stories told.
Like the fact that, once upon a time when they were both alive, Tucker and Clara had known each other.
And she remembered him.

The fork slipped... I think? Maybe? No? Okay, fine! I did it on purpose! But was I really only supposed to pepper spray him or something? Yeah, I didn't think so. He was STALKING ME. That is punishable by death. Or at least to me it is... obviously. You can cross that off my bucket list. I have officially fufilled what my curse proclaimed I would do... supposedly (more or less). Clara Gardner thought it was all over. The forest fire had blazed, Christian was alive, and Tucker was safe. She thought that it all ended with the fire that was her purpose. But one day, she wakes up to find her mother and brother crying in their bedrooms. As she tries to find out what is wrong, she discovers that they can't see or hear her! What's worse, Tucker, her handsome boyfriend, doesn't seem to be picking up his phone when she calls. The only one who seems to be paying attention to her is Christian, who claims to be having the same problems. As they watch their families and friends grieve over something Christian and Clara can't understand, it all leads to one question: what really happened that day of the fire?
Wings and a task she was put on earth to fulfill was not all part-angel Clara was given. Clara has another side—Caroline. It’s the middle of the day. Some people prefer to work during the dark hours of night, but I like the day. People are smart enough to be suspicious when it’s dark, but when the sun’s up they let down their guard. Like today’s victim, a young girl with unwashed hair and scabs on her knees. She sees my smile and my trustworthy face and she follows me through the woods, to the abandoned house, without hesitation. We’re up the steps, in the door, and it’s closed behind us with a creak. Grimy light filters in through the windows. At first she smiles, showing me she’s not scared. But then there comes a thumping noise from above us: steps, coming down the stair case. The girl screams and turns for the door, but I’m leaning against it, blocking her way. My smile is different now, and she can finally see that. I watch the realization dawn on her, the terror sink into her bones as the steps come closer. She's finally scared, but that won't save her now. I laugh at her fear, as Tucker comes down the stairs with his knife. She should have known. She should have known not to trust me, even in the daylight.

Angel of Destruction, Clara Gardner has just proven herself to all of the Angels of Destruction. Young as she is just as diabolical as them. She was successful in causing the forest fire that raged through Wyoming. She left her boyfriend, Tucker, in the fire to burn but after a promising vision of more something even more horrid and gruesome on the horizon, she made a last second decision to save his life. Tucker would have been better off dying in the fire, for now Clara is reuniting with the devilishly handsome, Demon, Christian Prescott, the boy who helped her train to begin a raging fire. Now the Demon and Angel of Destruction are joining forces to summon the Black Wings. The Black Wings are an ancient society of Demons and Angels of Destruction that are responsible for the all darkest nightmares found in the world. The worst forest fire in the history of Wyoming is only amateur at best to them. The Black Wings take the very souls of humans, draining the bodies of every essence. Looking up to the Black Wings, Clara becomes co pletely demonic with a bloody thirst. Anyone close to Clara will die, and she is okay with that. There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, for in her wake lies heaps of corpse completely hallowed.
Clara Gardner - a malignant, reprobate and cunning angel - has always looked forward to the sinister day of Halloween, treated as a festival by the oblivious humans, when she'll get sent down to earth from her abhorrent home of hell, to fulfil her mission.
For dark angels like her, Halloween marks the day of the ominous sacrifice ritual - the day when she can break the curse of the jack-o-lantern that has been bound on her master, metamorphosing him into a pumpkin; now she must track down the golden boy that holds the key to it all, whose heart will have to be eaten out...
However, as she descend the boundaries of hell and earth, she finds herself falling hard for the dashing, charming and soon-to be-her-victim Tucker Avery that makes her insides melt.
With Halloween and the impending ritual looming on the horizon, she must hasten to complete her task, as they've sent Christian after her - one of the most loyal and brutal comrades, to make sure she doesnt waver. But will she be able to go against her heart, and accomplish the mission that she was sent for, even as it makes her soul tear apart or will she defy everything and save Tucker and herself from the apocalyptic repercussion that awaits her?

Clara Gardener a stony Black Wing angel with so much purpose is reborn every Halloween. Chained to wooden stakes for a laugh, (they thought she was some kind of demonic vampire witch on the hunt for innocent flesh, haha playful brains), Clara arises from the frosty aura of death each year whilst being prone to misery – rewritten every October – Clara thirsts for the day she’s reunited with the searingly striking Tucker Avery. Eternity has painstakingly passed, yet Clara’s forlorn soul never tires, she desires that same magnetic jerk to her heart, the one where he's so close she almost faints from the swift dizziness that overcomes her. But of course, is always interrupted by the constant annoyance of the forest blaze nightmare. She loves Tucker doesn’t she? Then why has Christian suddenly crept into her heart? Somehow she feels there’s more that meets the eye coming from both of them. She’ll die all over again just to clear the bewilderment eternally seeping into her mind. That, and then some.

'Are the flames of hell hotter than Tucker?'
Last Halloween, Clare made the portentous wish which set in motion an eldritch chain of events. Raised in hell, Clara was content with her fiery home with ghastly wailing for music and pitchforks for utencils. As a black wing, it was mere curiosity that led her to ask for a visit to Earth for Trick or Treating on Halloween. However, what Clara didnt forsee was her momentous meeting with the infuriating, yet charming Tucker Avery. What was supposed to be a one day trip turns into a long affair of romantic encounters which leave Clara breathless. Even as she falls in love, knowing that she is breaking the rules, she wonders if its really possible to fall from hell too.
Now with another halloween looming on the horizon, the egregious consequences of her rebellion catch up to her. The nefarious and malevolent black wings have threatened to kill her only angel firiend: Christian, who once saved her from a deadly fire.(ironic since they lived in hell!) Forced to turn into a deceptive spy that was her nature and betray Tucker by stealing the humans' secrets, she ruminated on her options.
Opening up a portal to hell on Halloween would not only lead to the slaughter of humans, but also end in devastation for her and Tucker. but refusing would be signing the death warrant for Christian. Torn between the guy that she loved and the guy that she loves, Clara realises that this war between hell and earth will result in vicious reverberations. And the clock is ticking for the inexorable Halloween masacre...
Clara Gardner knew her Purpose would take her to places she'd never expect, push her to her breaking point...but she never imagined her choices regarding it would lead her to this.
Chritian Prescott, the alluring angel whom she succeeded in saving.
Tucker Avery, the handsome, rugged, and utterly normal seeming young man who now knows her secret.
Clara thought she made the right choice, but is Tucker all he seems? Is the Purpose really simply about saving-and then falling in love with-Christian? And what will Clara do now that Tucker's darkest secret has been revealed?
Angels aren't supposed to fall for deamons, but even angels can fall...

Last Halloween there was a knock at the door that changed Clara Gardner’s life forever. She thought it was little kids coming to get candy but was she wrong. The guy in a dark hoody, dark jeans knocked her on the floor; he was at least six foot tall and had about 45 pounds on her. He then killed her and she made a deal with herself that every Halloween she would come back to find out who killed her and if it could have anything to do with the pictures that keep popping up in her head about Christian Prescott. Her soul will not be able to rest in peace until she finds out why she is drawn to Christian and if he is the one that killed her.
